Thank you so much for your interest in being an associate photographer for Afp!
In 2023, I am expecting to have knee surgery that will put me out for about 7 months. I am searching for associate shooters who can take over my responsibilities as the lead shooter during weddings and sessions. All other aspects of the business will be handled by me! Please see below for more information and to apply!
Expectations, Pay Information, & More about the role
THE ROLE IS GOOD FOR:
A photographer with gaps in their schedule.
A photographer who loves shooting but doesn’t necessarily enjoy the business side of things.
A photographer looking to get into weddings.
Someone shooting weddings part-time and not really interested in making it your full-time business.
A photographer who just wants to shoot and work with great couples but not worry about edits, marketing, ordering, and album designing.
What I am looking for:
Someone with a creative eye
A kind spirit and friendly personality - someone who responds with grace under pressure
Experience as a professional photographer, wedding preferred but not a must, experience shooting in manual mode
Able to work in a documentary style but also direct couples as needed
Able to speak up for oneself
Professional insurance preferred
Access to own vehicle for business travel
Since I am expected to be unable to shoot for about 7 months, I am hoping to find 4 to 6 reliable associate shooters to split up my shooting responsibilities. I know that many of you have your own businesses and this would be a way to fill in any gaps in your schedule. Having a variety of shooters to choose from will allow you to keep your books open while making some extra income when you have availability! I may continue to use associate shooters for the upcoming years as my business is expanding as well.
I am hoping to confirm each associate shooter via contract exactly three months before the date of the wedding. For example, If I have a wedding booked for 4/1/23, I would hope to have you contracted to cover that wedding on 1/1/23.
You would be required to second shoot a wedding with me at least once during 2022 to be considered for this position. The second shooting gig would be paid but it is not a guarantee of an associate shooter position.
Hourly pay of $100 per hour would apply to all weddings where you are hired as the associate shooter. Second shooter payment would be based on a case-to-case basis. Pay would be sent via Paypal and you will receive payment after all of the images have been given to me!
You must have two full-frame cameras, speedlights, and various lenses and be proficient in on-camera or off-camera flash. Strictly natural light photographers will not be hired.
You must be okay with me listing your first name, a photo of you, and images from your portfolio on my website! You will be listed as an associate shooter!
Even if you are selected I can't guarantee that you will receive work opportunities.
Thank you so much! I am looking forward to reading your questionnaire response!
Feel free to reach out to me if you have questions about anything!
